This installation was held up for various reasons, and when we arrived we were already late- not that we knew- our contract deadline was still a month out, but the builder didn’t know that or care. A classic example of the middle man not exactly getting things communicated correctly. At that point it was twenty hour days of installing till things were over and done. And as it turned out all three of us were afraid of heights.

Yeah, you read that right. My lips are sealed.

The grain of this particular stone was very strong, and played well with the intent.

This piece was designed by the architect, and I’ve always liked the framing technique that he used around the firebox inner surround.
