Lombardi Great Room Fireplace

This was my first fireplace as a solo carver (1991). I did five fireplaces for this client in all. Then a whole series of sculptures, furniture, an fountains over the last twenty years. My friend Karen Moran did the bumper. This piece is enormous, at thirteen feet wide and just under ten foot tall.

I’m a whole lot better now, but I am still proud of this first mantle design. There is a charm there.

I remember we finished installing this fireplace at about two in the morning.
